Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Sha’bi that a question was asked about a person who broke another man's nose and it healed crooked, so he replied that a decision will be made in this matter.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj states that ‘Uthman bin Abi Sulayman informed me that a slave of Jubayr bin Sulayman broke a bone in the nose of a slave belonging to ‘Ata bin Bakht. Ibn Saraqah asked ‘Umar bin ‘Abd al-‘Aziz about this matter, and he replied that we have seen in the book of ‘Umar bin Khattab that whenever any bone is broken and then heals in the same way, then camels of the fourth year must be given. Then Ibn Saraqah said again that only one of the two bones of his nose is broken, but ‘Umar bin ‘Abd al-‘Aziz still ruled that in this case, two complete camels of the fourth year must be given.
