Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saad bin Yusuf bin Yaqoob narrates that some people said to Hazrat Tawus regarding one of their slaves: He has no wealth so that I may make him a mukatab, nor is he pious so that I may get him married, and that person disliked beating: He (Hazrat Tawus) said: Imprison him.

Hazrat Ibrahim bin Tahman narrates from one of his teachers that Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) considered it disliked to put a collar around a child's neck.

Hazrat Hisham states that Hasan Basri considered it undesirable for a person to put a collar around his child's neck.

Hazrat Masruq narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the man who had mentioned his wife: "You should confine her."

Hazrat Jabir narrates that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Ask Allah, the Lord of Might and Majesty, for beneficial knowledge, and seek refuge with Allah, the Lord of Might and Majesty, from knowledge that does not benefit."
