Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Jarhad narrates from his grandfather, he says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him in the mosque in such a state that he had a sheet on him and his thigh was uncovered. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, the thigh is part of the 'awrah (private parts to be covered).

Hazrat Mansur narrates that Hazrat Umar said: A man's thigh is seventy parts.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim used to say: The thigh is a part of the awrah (private area).

Hazrat Laith states that Hazrat Mujahid said: The uncovering of the thigh in the mosque is from the 'awrah (private parts that must be covered).

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The thigh is part of the 'awrah (the area to be covered).
