Teaching Etiquette to an Orphan Child
Hadith 28391
٢٨٣٩١ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن شعبة قال: حدثتني شميسة قالت: سمعت ⦗٥٣٠⦘ عائشة (و) (١) سئلت عن أدب اليتيم فقالت: (إني) (٢) لأضرب أحدهم حتى (ينبسط) (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Shumaisa says that I heard Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) saying that she was asked about teaching manners to an orphan child. She replied: Surely, I would beat one of them so much that he would become happy.
Hadith 28392
٢٨٣٩٢ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن عمرو عن الحسن العرني أن رجلًا قال للنبي ﷺ: مم أضرب يتيمي؟ قال: "اضربه مما كنت ضاريًا منه ولدك" (١).
Hasan Arni narrates that a companion asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): To what extent can I hit an orphan? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Hit him only as much as you would hit your own child.
Hadith 28393
٢٨٣٩٣ - حدثنا (عفان) (١) قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن أبي جعفر الخطمي أن أباه سأل سعيد بن المسيب أو قال: أرسل مولى له وأنا معه يسأله: مم يضرب الرجل يتيمه؟ قال: مم يضرب الرجل ولده.
Hazrat Abu Ja'far Khatmi narrates that his father asked Hazrat Sa'id bin Musayyib or said: He sent his servant and I was with him, that to what extent can a man beat an orphan? He replied: As much as a man can beat his own child. Hazrat Abu Ja'far narrates: He asked Hazrat Muhammad bin Ka'b; he also gave the same answer.
