Narrations Regarding Effeminacy
Hadith 28186
٢٨١٨٦ - حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن يزيد بن أبي زياد عن عكرمة عن (ابن عباس قال) (١): لعن (٢) اللَّه المتخنثين من الرجال و (المترجلات) (٣) من النساء (٤).
Hazrat Ikrimah narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Allah, the Lord of Might and Majesty, has cursed those men who become effeminate among people and those women who imitate men. The narrator says: I asked Hazrat Ikrimah, "What is meant by 'mutarajjilat'?" He replied: It means women who imitate men.
Hadith 28188
٢٨١٨٨ - حدثنا حاتم بن إسماعيل عن جهضم بن عبد اللَّه (عمن حدث) (١) ⦗٤٦٩⦘ عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة قال: لعن رسول اللَّه ﷺ (المتخنثين) (٢) من الرجال الذين (يتشبهون) (٣) بالنساء، والمترجلات من النساء اللاتي يتشبهن بالرجال (٤).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed those effeminate men who imitate women and those masculine women who imitate men.
Hadith 28189
٢٨١٨٩ - حدثنا وكيع عن هشام عن أبيه عن زينب بنت أم سلمة عن أم سلمة أن النبي ﷺ دخل عليها فسمع مخنثًا وهو يقول لعبد اللَّه بن (أبي) (١) أمية أخيها: إن يفتح اللَّه الطائف غدًا دللتك على امرأة تقبل بأربع وتدبر بثمان، فقال النبي ﷺ: "أخرجوهم من بيوتكم" (٢).
Hazrat Umm Salamah narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her, and he heard the voice of a mukhannath (effeminate man) who was saying to her brother Abdullah bin Abi Umayyah: "If Allah grants victory over Ta’if tomorrow, I will guide you to a woman who comes with four folds and leaves with eight folds." So the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Expel them from your houses."
Hadith 28190
٢٨١٩٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن الوليد بن العيزار عن عكرمة أن النبي ﷺ كان لا يدخل بيتًا فيه مخنث (١).
Hazrat Ikrimah states that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not enter a house in which there was a mukhannath (effeminate man).
Hadith 28191
٢٨١٩١ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن الأجلح عن الشعبي قال: لعن رسول اللَّه ﷺ المتشبهين من الرجال بالنساء، والمتشبهات من النساء بالرجال (١).
Imam Shabi states that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed those men who imitate women and those women who imitate men.
Hadith 28192
٢٨١٩٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال: حدثنا أبو (حيان) (١) عن ⦗٤٧٠⦘ يونس عن الحسن يرفعه إلى النبي ﷺ قال: "لُعن من الرجال (المتشبه) (٢) بالنساء ولعن من النساء (المتشبهة) (٣) (بالرجال) (٤) (المترجلة) (٥) (٦) " (٧).
Hasan Basri narrates a marfu’ hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A curse has been placed upon those men who imitate women, and a curse has been placed upon those women who imitate men.
Hadith 28193
٢٨١٩٣ - حدثنا حميد بن عبد الرحمن عن (حسن) (١) عن إبراهيم بن عبد الأعلى عن سويد بن غفلة قال: المتشبهة بالرجال من النساء ليست منا ولسنا منها (٢).
Hazrat Ibrahim bin Abd al-Ala reports that Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah said: Those women who imitate men are not from among us, and we are not from among them.
