Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibn Aun says that Muhammad bin Sirin, Qasim bin Muhammad, and Raja bin Haywah were among those who strove to narrate hadith exactly as they had heard it. And Hasan al-Basri, Ibrahim, and Shu’bi were among those who did not strive for this. Ibn Aun says: I submitted to Imam Muhammad: Indeed, so-and-so does not strive to narrate hadith exactly as he heard it. He replied: If he does so, it is better for him.

Hazrat Amarah says that Hazrat Abu Ma'mar, after making a mistake in the narration of a hadith, would repeat the correct words so that he could narrate them exactly as he had heard.

Hazrat Ash'ath states that Hasan Basri and Hazrat Sha'bi, both of these personalities, did not consider it problematic to change the order of a hadith. And Hazrat Ibn Sirin was particular about narrating the hadith exactly as it was heard.

Hazrat Ismail bin Umayyah says that we intended to persist in an error regarding hadith before Hazrat Nafi', but he refused.

Hazrat A’mash says that we asked Hazrat Abu’d-Duha: Are the words “al-musawwirun”? He replied: It is “al-musawwirin.”

Hazrat Jabir narrates that I asked Hazrat Amir: If I hear a mistake in a hadith, what should I do? He replied: Correct it.
