Hazrat Mujalid says that Imam Sha’bi stated: I do not know anyone among the people who traveled more in the world for seeking knowledge than Hazrat Masruq.

Hazrat Sufyan narrates from a person whose name he did not mention, that for the pursuit of knowledge, Hazrat Masruq set out towards one side and Hazrat Abu Saeed set out towards the other side.

Hazrat Salih narrates that Imam Sha’bi related a hadith to us and then said: I have given you this hadith without asking for anything in return, otherwise a rider would travel all the way to Madinah for even less than this.

Hazrat Abda bin Sulaiman states that a man narrated that Imam Sha’bi said to me: We have given you many ahadith without anything in return, otherwise a rider would travel to Madinah for even less than this.

Hazrat Abu Majliz narrates that Hazrat Qais bin Abad said: I set out towards Madinah so that I may seek knowledge and honor.
