Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever learns the knowledge of the stars has learned a branch of sorcery; the more he increases in it, the more he increases in sorcery.

Hazrat Mansur narrates that Ibrahim said: There is no harm in learning astrology and the knowledge of the moon for the purpose of finding the way through it.

Hazrat Tawus narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Those people ponder over the stars and the letters of Abjad. He said: In my opinion, those people will have no share in the Hereafter.

Hazrat Abu Nazrah narrates that Hazrat Umar said: Learn the knowledge of these stars and use it to find your way in the darkness of the sea and the land, then stop there.
