Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Abdullah. He says that I heard Hazrat Abu Ja'far say: The hilt of Hazrat Umar's sword was made of silver. (The narrator says): I asked... Of the Commander of the Faithful? He said: Of the Commander of the Faithful.

It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Abi Al-Hasan. He says that the hilt of the sword of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was made of silver.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hisham bin Zubair. He says that Hazrat Zubair's sword was adorned with silver ornamentation.

Hazrat Usman bin Hakeem narrates: He says that I saw a gold nail in the sword of Hazrat Sahl bin Hunaif.

It is narrated from Hazrat Nafi'. He says that Hazrat Umar's sword was adorned. (The narrator says) I asked Nafi', "Did Hazrat Umar decorate it?" Nafi' replied, "I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) hanging that sword."

It is narrated from Hazrat Qasim. He says that Hazrat Abdullah's sword was decorated.

Hazrat Abu Wahshiyah Saikal narrates: He says that Hazrat Mus'ab called me and then he took out two swords and showed them to me. And he asked… Which of these two is better? I said… this one… and there were silver particles on its hilt. People told me that this is the sword of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Abdullah. He says that I saw a Yemeni sword with Hazrat Makhool.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ishaq. He says that Hazrat Masruq's sword was adorned.

It is narrated from Hazrat Amir. He says that Hazrat Ali bin Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) showed us the sword of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it had a hilt and two rings, in which there was a silver strap. The narrator says: I asked him about it, and it appeared to be a gifted item. This was the sword of Manbah bin Hajjaj Sahmi, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken for himself on the day of the Battle of Badr. The narrator says: Then he showed us the armor of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); it was a fine Yemeni armor with two rings.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ja'far. He says that there is no harm in adorning the sword.
