Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Rafi’ bin Abi Rafi’. He says: I saw Hazrat Abu Bakr with a sheet from the region of Fadak. When he mounted (his ride), he would fold it and fasten it with a pin, and when we dismounted, both he and I would wear it. This is the same sheet for which the Hawazin reproached him. They said: After the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), shall we pledge allegiance to the one with the sheet of Dhu’l-Khilal?

It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Maymoon. He says that Hazrat Abu Musa performed Hajj on a red-colored camel whose head (hair) was pasted. He had his saddlebag on him.

It is narrated from Hasan. He says that the noble wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had cloaks which were called "Marut." They were neither very wide—by Allah—nor were they soft.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Burdah. He says that I went to the service of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and she showed me a thick lower garment... which are made in Yemen, and one of those sheets... which you call "Malbada"..., and she swore an oath and said: The blessed soul of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken in these two garments.

Hazrat Abu Burdah narrates from his father that he said to me: O my son! If you had been with us at the time when we were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the heat of the sun would reach us, you would think that the smell (of our sweat) was like the smell of sheep.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Khurash. He says that I saw Hazrat Abu Dharr sitting on a woolen blanket and a sack.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Majliz. He says that they were afflicted with severe cold along with Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud… The narrator says… but (some of) the people felt shy to come in old clothes or an old sheet. The narrator says: So Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman came one morning in a shawl, then came again in the same shawl, then on the third day also came in the same shawl. Upon this, humility also began to appear among the people.

It is narrated from Hazrat ‘Ubada bin Nasi about Hazrat Salman that he had pieces of bark to tie his thighs while sitting on his buttocks. And he was the leader of the people.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair. He says that Hazrat Isa bin Maryam used to wear wool (as clothing).
