Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ja'far narrates about Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bought a very long shirt for four dirhams. And he called the tailor, then he pulled the sleeve of the shirt and ordered the tailor to cut off the part that extended beyond his fingers.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Uthman Nahdi that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab called for a razor so that he could cut the sleeve of Uqbah bin Farqad's shirt from his fingers. That person was wearing a very long shirt. Upon this, Uqbah said, "O Commander of the Faithful! Instead of you, I will do this myself. I feel shy that you cut it in front of people." Upon this, Hazrat Umar left him.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abu Al-Hazil. He says that I saw a thin shirt on Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). When he left it, it would reach to the middle of his shin, and when he pulled it, it would not go beyond his nails.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Al-Bakhtari. He says that I saw Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the sleeves of his shirt reached up to his wrists.

It is narrated from Hazrat Budeel Aqili. He says that the sleeve of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was up to the wrist.
