Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Yazid Muzani that he said Hazrat Umar used to forbid women from wearing Qubati cloth. People said that cloth is not woven (i.e., it is not very thin). He replied: Even though it is not woven, it still describes (the shape of the body).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Salih that he says Hazrat Umar said: Do not make your women wear Qubati cloth, because although it is not very thin, it still describes (the shape of) the body.

Hazrat Ikrimah narrates about Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he disliked women wearing Qubati cloth. And he used to say that although this cloth is not very thin, it still describes (the shape of) the body parts.

It is narrated from Hazrat Rafi that he says Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) one day made his freed slave wear a Qubati cloth from Egypt, so he took it and went away. Then Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sent someone to him and called him back. And asked, "What do you intend to make?" He said, "I want to make a shirt for my wife (from this cloth)." Upon this, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Although this cloth is not very thin, it still reveals (the shape of the body)."
