Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Amr Shaibani that he says: An old man came and greeted Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). This old man was wearing a cloak made of shawl cloth, which had brocade attached to the front. So Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What is this foul-smelling thing under your beard? Upon this, the old man looked to his right and left and said: I do not see anything. The narrator says someone said: He means the brocade. The man said: In that case, we will throw it away and never wear it again.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Murrah narrates about Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw a man wearing a shawl which had buttons of brocade on it, so he said: He is wearing a necklace along with the necklace of Satan.

Hazrat Hisham narrates about Hasan and Muhammad that both of these personalities disliked marks on clothing.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) bought a turban, and he saw a mark on it, so he cut off that mark.

It is narrated from Hazrat Nazar bin Abdullah that Qais bin Abad came to Hazrat Muawiyah as part of a delegation. And they gave him a soft cloth to wear. He separated its mark and wore it as a sheet.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We used to cut off the marks (of silk).
