Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Marzooq bin Amr that he says Hazrat Abu Farqad said: I saw brocade and silk on the saddle of Hazrat Abu Musa.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hisham that he says: My father had a cloak which was made of brocade, and he used to wear it in battle.

Hazrat Laith narrates regarding Hazrat Ata that he said: If it is a cloak or a weapon, then there is no harm in it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that he says there is no harm in wearing silk during battle.

It is narrated from Hazrat Qatadah that Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted Hazrat Zubair bin Al-Awwam and Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf to wear silk shirts because they were suffering from a skin disease (itching).

It is narrated from Hazrat Waleed bin Hisham that he says: I wrote a letter to Hazrat Ibn Muheiriz and I asked him about wearing a cloak and silk in the land of war. The narrator says: So he wrote back, "That which you dislike, you should dislike it even more at the time of fighting, when you are presenting yourself for martyrdom."

Hazrat Abu Makin narrates about Hazrat Ikrimah that he used to dislike this even in battle and used to say: I hope that this will not be for martyrdom.

It is narrated from Ibn Aun that he said: I asked Muhammad about wearing silk during war? So he replied: Where would those people get silk from?

It is narrated from Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah that he said: We were present at Yarmouk. The narrator says: We encountered Hazrat Umar while we were wearing brocade and silk. Hazrat Umar ordered us to be pelted with stones. We thought to ourselves: What has reached him about us? The narrator says: Then we took off those clothes and said: He did not like our appearance. Then when we met Hazrat Umar again, he welcomed us and said: You had come to me earlier in the appearance of the people of shirk (polytheism). Surely, Allah was not pleased with brocade and silk for those before you either.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas who says that I saw the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, Hazrat Zainab, wearing a pure silk shirt.
