Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Izaar bin Harith, he says that I saw Hazrat Hussain bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in such a way that he was wearing a cloak made of silk and he used to dye his hair with henna and katam (a special herb).

It is narrated from Hazrat Shaibani, who says that I saw Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Awfa wearing a cloak made of silk.

Hazrat 'Uyainah bin Abdur Rahman narrates from his father. He says that Hazrat Abu Bakrah had a sheet made of silk, whose warp was of silk, and he used to wear it as well.

It is narrated from Hazrat Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, he says that I saw Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila wearing a cloak made of silk, which he wore until that cloak became torn to pieces ... then he once sewed it together.

Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) had a cloak made of silk. She gave it to Hazrat Ibn Zubair to wear.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ismail bin Khalid. He says that I saw Hazrat Ahnaf bin Qais riding a mule, and I saw a silk turban and a (garment) sheet made of silk on him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ismail bin Ibn Khalid, he says: I saw Hazrat Qais bin Abi Hazim, Hazrat Shabeel bin Auf, and Hazrat Sha'bi wearing cloaks made of wool and silk, and I saw Hazrat Shurayh wearing a cloak made of wool and silk and a large cap made of wool and silk.

It is narrated from Imran Qattan, who says that Ammar told me, he says that I saw a cloak made of wool and silk on Qatadah, and I saw a cloak made of wool and silk on Abu Hurairah, and I saw (a silk cloak) on Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) so many times that I cannot count.

It is narrated from Hazrat Waleed bin Jamee’, he says that I saw Hazrat Abu Ubaidah bin Abdullah wearing a large cap made of wool and silk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah, he says that I saw Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair, Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair, and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), and Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham wearing cloaks made of wool and silk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Ishaq, he says that I saw Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Abu Ja'far wearing two cloaks made of wool and silk, and the color of Hazrat Abu Ja'far's cloak was inclined towards black.

It is narrated from Hazrat Habib. He says that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had a cloak made of wool and silk, which he used to wear every Friday.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Zaid, who says: I was sitting with Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib, while I was wearing a cloak made of wool and silk. So he held the sleeve of my cloak and said, "How beautiful is your cloak!" He says, I said, "People have declared it impermissible for me." He asked, "Who has declared it impermissible?" I said, "Hazrat Salim has." He said, "When your heart is correct, then wear whatever you wish." The narrator says, I mentioned the words of both of them to Hasan, so he said: "The correction of the heart is also in leaving clothes made of wool and silk."

Hazrat Ibn Aun narrates about Muhammad that I asked him, "Did the earlier people use to wear khaz (fabric made of wool and silk)?" He said, "They did wear khaz, but they disliked it and hoped for Allah's mercy."

It is narrated from Hazrat Shaibani that he said: I saw Hazrat Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) at the place of Arafat, while he was wearing a cloak made of yellow wool and silk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Safwan bin Abdullah. He says that Hazrat Saad sought permission to enter at Hazrat Ibn Aamir’s place. At that time, Hazrat Ibn Aamir had cushions made of silk beneath him, so Hazrat Ibn Aamir ordered regarding them and they were removed. Then, when Hazrat Saad entered upon Hazrat Ibn Aamir, Ibn Aamir was wearing a striped cloak made of wool and silk. Hazrat Ibn Aamir said to Hazrat Saad, “You sought permission to enter upon me, and there were silk cushions beneath me, so I ordered regarding them and they were removed.” Upon this, Hazrat Saad said to Ibn Aamir, “If you are not among those about whom Allah Almighty has said: ‘You have exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life,’ then you are the best of men. By Allah, it is more beloved to me to lie on the embers of a broom tree than to lie on that.” Then Hazrat Saad said, “This cloak that is upon you, is one part of it silk and one part of it khazz (wool and silk)?” Hazrat Ibn Aamir said, “There is khazz mixed with it against my body.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Ziyad, he says that I saw a cloak made of khaz (a type of fabric) on Hazrat Abu Hurairah, which he had wrapped around himself.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khaythamah that thirteen individuals from among the companions of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear garments made of wool and silk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Usman bin Abi Hind, he says that I saw Hazrat Abu Ubaidah wearing a striped cloak made of wool and silk, and I saw Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz wearing a white striped cloak made of wool and silk.
