Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abi Awfa that he said: I participated in seven battles along with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. During that time, we used to eat locusts.

Hazrat Shabeeb narrates about Hazrat Jundub that he asked Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about eating locusts. So Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: There is nothing objectionable in it.

Hazrat Nafi narrates about Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: The mention of locusts was made before Hazrat Umar at the place of Rabdhah, so he said: I would like to have one or two baskets of locusts with me.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hasan bin Ubaidullah that he says: I heard Ibrahim say that the Mothers of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with them) used to gift locusts to each other.

Hazrat Hasan bin Saad narrates from his father that he used to clean locusts for Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), then Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would eat them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Dawood bin Abi Hind, he says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib about the locust. He replied: Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Miqdad bin Aswad, Hazrat Suhaib, and Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) have eaten the locust. The narrator says that Hazrat Umar also said: I would like to have a basket or two baskets of it.

Hazrat Abu Wa'il narrates about Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that when locusts were mentioned, Hazrat Umar said: I like the idea that we should have a basket or two baskets of locusts.

Another narration about Hazrat Umar has also been transmitted in this manner.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Hazrat Umar used to eat locusts.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I saw Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: I feel like eating roasted locust.

It is narrated from Hazrat Masna bin Saad, he says that I heard Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid say: A bowl filled with locusts is more beloved to me than a bowl filled with tharid.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ja'far that he said: I saw my father eating locusts.

It is narrated from Hazrat Akhdar bin Ajlan that he says: I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair about the locust. He replied: Roast it in olive oil and eat it.

Hazrat Abdul Malik bin Harith narrates from his father that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the locust. He replied: It is absolutely pure, just like the catch from the sea.

Hazrat Hisham narrates about Hasan, he says that Hasan saw no harm in eating locusts.
