Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ismail bin Khalid narrates from his father that he says: I was present in the company of a man, and that man was eating dates and taking sips of milk. He said, "Come, say Bismillah, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to call both of these pure."

Hazrat Ata bin Saib narrates from his father, who says: I visited Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) on a cold day. He had a drink in his hand. He gave it to me and said: Drink! I asked, What is this? He replied: One third is honey, one third is ghee, and one third is milk. I said, My heart does not desire it. He said: If you drink it, you will remain quenched for the whole day even in a state of heat.

It is narrated from Hazrat Alaa bin Musayyib that he says: I saw Ibrahim and Hazrat Khaythamah eating meat with honey.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Ja'far that he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) eating dates with cucumber.

Hazrat Hisham narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to eat watermelon with dates.
