Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Haroon bin Abi Ibrahim narrates about Hazrat Abdullah bin Umair that a man asked him about the rabbit. So he replied: There is no harm in it. The questioner asked: Does it menstruate? He replied: Whoever knows about its menstruation also knows about its purity. It is one of those that become pregnant.

Hazrat Hisham bin Zaid bin Anas narrates regarding Hazrat Anas. He says: I heard him say, "We startled a rabbit at the place of Mara az-Zahran and drove it out. Then the children ran after it until they became very tired. Then I caught it (the rabbit) and took it to Hazrat Abu Talha. He slaughtered it, and then gave me its haunch to take to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Musa bin Talha that a man asked Hazrat Umar about the rabbit. So Hazrat Umar replied: If I did not dislike that there might be some deficiency or excess in narrating the hadith, (then I would narrate it myself), but I will soon send a messenger to a man for you. Thus, he sent a messenger to Hazrat Ammar. So he came. Then he said: We were with the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. So we stopped at such and such a place. Hazrat Ammar said: A villager presented a rabbit as a gift to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. So we ate it. The villager said: I saw blood in it. Upon this, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no harm in it."

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib narrates about Hazrat Saad that he had eaten rabbit. The narrator says that I asked Hazrat Saeed, "What do you say about it?" He replied, "I also eat it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubaid bin Saad that Hazrat Bilal struck a rabbit with a stick and broke its legs, then he slaughtered it and ate it.

Hazrat Hisham narrates regarding Hasan that he did not see any harm in eating rabbit.

Hazrat Tawus narrates from his father that he said: The rabbit is lawful (halal).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Al-Waseem. He says that I asked Hazrat Hasan bin Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about the rabbit. So he replied: I dislike it, but I do not declare it forbidden for Muslims.

It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Saifi. He says that I presented myself before the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with two rabbits which I had slaughtered at the place of Marwah, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to eat both of them.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Safwan narrates from the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) a narration similar to that of Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas.
