Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umm Karz narrates from the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "For a boy, two complete goats, and for a girl, one goat." There is no harm for you whether they are male or female goats."

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Karz that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "For a boy, two complete goats, and for a girl, one goat."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that Hazrat Umm Sabaa asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Should I perform 'Aqiqah on behalf of my children?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Yes." Two goats for a boy and one goat for a girl."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). He says: For a boy, two goats; and for a girl, one goat.

Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about 'Aqiqah. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I do not like disobedience to (one's) parents. Whoever has a child born to him and he likes to offer a sacrifice on his behalf, then he should offer a sacrifice: two goats for a boy and one goat for a girl."

It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid. He says that for 'Aqiqah there are two complete goats, and for a girl there will be one goat.

Hazrat Hafsah bint Abdur Rahman narrates about Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to perform 'Aqiqah—two goats for a boy and one goat for a girl.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: It is Sunnah to offer two complete goats as 'Aqiqah for a boy (child) and one goat for a girl.
