Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fever is from the heat of Hell, so cool it with water."

It is narrated about Hazrat Asma that a woman suffering from (fever) would be brought to her, and she would ask for water and pour that water into her collar, and say: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Cool this fever with water, for it is from the intensity of Hell."

Hazrat Rafi' bin Khadij narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Fever is from the intensity of Hell, so cool it with water."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the severity of fever is from the heat of Hell, so cool it with water."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Jamrah, who says: I used to visit Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) the most. For a few days I was detained, so he asked, "What kept you away?" I replied, "Fever did." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Surely fever is from the heat of Hell, so cool it with the water of Zamzam."

It is narrated about Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that when he would get a fever, he would wet his clothes and then wear those clothes. Then he would say, "Surely this fever is from the intensity of Hell, so cool it with water."
