Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Asmah, he says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib about amulets (taweez)? He replied: When the amulet is enclosed in leather, then there is no harm in it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata regarding a menstruating woman who has hung an amulet, he says that if the amulet is in leather, the woman should remove it, and if it is in a silver case, then she may remove it if she wishes, or she may leave it on if she wishes.

It is narrated from Hazrat Thawir that he says Hazrat Mujahid used to write amulets for people and then he would also make people wear those amulets.

Hazrat Ja'far narrates from his father that he did not see any harm in writing the Holy Qur'an on leather and then hanging it (around the neck).

Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father and grandfather, who say that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When any one of you is frightened in his sleep, he should say: : : I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the anger of Allah and His evil punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the evil of the devils, and from the evil of those who are present." Thus, Hazrat Abdullah used to teach these words to his intelligent children, and for those children who were not yet understanding, Hazrat Abdullah would write these words and hang them around their necks.

It is narrated about Hazrat Ibn Sirin that he did not see any harm in using any part of the Qur'an (as an amulet).

Ayyub narrates that he saw a thread tied on the hand (wrist) of Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that he says there is no harm if a person hangs the Holy Qur'an (after writing it).

It is narrated from Yunus bin Khabbab who says: I asked Abu Ja'far about the amulets that are hung on children? So he permitted it.

It is narrated about Hazrat Dhahhak that he did not see any harm in a person hanging something from the Book of Allah (after writing it), provided that he removes it at the time of bathing and relieving himself.
