Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It was asked from Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) that a person conducts a currency exchange in dinars and gives counterfeit dirhams. He replied that if he exchanges them, then there is no harm.

Hazrat Sufyan says that if they are counterfeit, they will be returned, and they will share in their portion of those dinars.

Hazrat Sufyan says that if a person brings dinars to a goldsmith and exchanges them for dirhams, and he takes possession of the dinars but the goldsmith does not have the dirhams? He said: If they have exchanged before separating, then the sale is permissible, because each of them has the price upon the other, and if it was goods, then the sale becomes invalid.

Hazrat Sufyan disliked exchanging ten dirhams for nine dirhams and a fals. And he considered there to be no harm in exchanging ten dirhams for nine dirhams along with some gold.

Hazrat Sufyan says that if he has disclosed (that it has such-and-such defect), then he is absolved of responsibility even if he did not point it out by placing his hand.

Hazrat Sufyan says that if one says, "I am free from every defect," then he will become free.

Hazrat Rabee’ bin Sa’d narrates that I asked Hazrat Abu Ja’far: I bought wheat from a person, he gave me some of it and then went away and did not give me the rest, and he says: Sell your wheat to me until I pay you? He replied: Do not go near this transaction, this is explicitly usury.

Hasan says that if a person keeps someone’s property or steals someone’s property, then wishes to return that property in such a way that the owner does not know, and delivers that property to him, then there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Salm says that I asked Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) that if two partners jointly bought something and then sold it at a profit, some for cash and some on credit, then one of them said to the other: "Give me my principal amount, whatever remains is yours." Is this correct? Hasan disliked this.
