It is narrated from Hazrat Sha’bi that there was a wool spinner (one who spun yarn), in whose house people’s yarn was kept. His house caught fire, and in that fire, the people’s yarn was also burnt. Only three balls of wool were left with him. He took them and came to Hazrat Shurayh, and with him were two women. One of them said, “This is my yarn,” and the other woman said, “No, by God, this is mine.” He separated one of them and asked her, “On what did you make the ball of yarn?” She said, “On a walnut shell.” And he asked the other woman, “On what did you make the ball of yarn?” She said, “On a piece of bread.” He said, “O spinner, go and unravel these balls of yarn. If it is on a walnut shell, give it to her, and if it is on a piece of bread, then give it to the other.”
