Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ammarah that two men testified before Qazi Shurayh regarding a certain matter about a person. A’mash says that I think the testimony was about a donkey. The witnesses said, “We testify that he bought this donkey from so-and-so.” Then one of the witnesses said, “I testify that this person is a wicked man.” Shurayh said, “How do you know that he is wicked? Stand up, your testimony is not accepted.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Ja'd bin Zakwān that a man came to Hazrat Shurayh, and Hazrat Shurayh called his witness. He said, "Where is the young disbeliever Rabi'ah?" Hazrat Shurayh inquired, "Do you confirm him with the (young disbeliever)?" Then he rejected his testimony.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sufyan that if two persons testify against someone that he has divorced his wife, and then both of them retract their testimony, he said: If the husband had not consummated the marriage, the divorce will remain effective and the husband will claim half of the dower from those witnesses. And if the husband had consummated the marriage, then nothing will be obligatory upon the witnesses.
