Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ghailan says that I submitted to Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz that it would be better if these dirhams were changed, because they pass through the hands of Jews, Christians, impure persons, and Magians; they touch them. He replied, "Do you want people of other religions to object to you? Do you want to change the oneness of the Lord and the name of your Prophet ﷺ?"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade corrupting the currency (dirhams) of the Muslims which is in circulation among them, except if there is a need or benefit for the Muslims, then it is another matter.

Hazrat Ata says that people became sinful by breaking (corrupting) the white dirham.
