Hasan used to say that when there is a difference in religion, then the testimony of some is not accepted in favor of others.

Hazrat Ata says that the testimony of a Jew against a Christian and of a Christian against a Jew is not accepted, and apart from Muslims, the testimony of one follower of a religion against the followers of another religion is not accepted.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that the testimony of a follower of one religion over the followers of another religion is not acceptable except among Muslims.

Hazrat Zuhri and Hazrat Hammad state that the testimony of some among the People of the Book is not accepted for others among them.

Ibrahim says that the testimony of polytheists against each other is not acceptable.

Ibrahim, Hazrat Sha’bi, and Hasan state that the testimony of a follower of one religion is not accepted against a follower of another religion. The testimony of a Jew is accepted for a Jew, and the testimony of a Christian is accepted for a Christian.

Hazrat Dahhak would not accept the testimony of a person of one religion against a person of another religion.

Hazrat Sha’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hakam about the ruling regarding the testimony of a Jew over a Christian and a Christian over a Jew. Hazrat Hakam replied: The testimony of one follower of a religion over another follower of a different religion is not accepted.

Hazrat Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman says that the testimony of people of one religion is not accepted over people of another religion, except for Muslims. Hazrat Waki’ says that Hazrat Ibn Abi Layla would not accept the testimony of a Jew over a Christian, nor of a Christian over a Jew.
