Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim says that permission is not necessary for shops in the market. (It is not necessary to take permission).

Hazrat Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when a shopkeeper sits after opening the door, it will be considered as permission.

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash that Ibrahim al-Taimi and Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, Hazrat Khaythama, and our companions, when they would come to our shop in the market, they would only say "Assalamu Alaikum" and then enter.

It was said to Hazrat Ikrimah that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to seek permission before entering the shops in the market? He replied, "Who can have the strength for what Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) had the strength for?"

Hazrat Ibn Aun narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) would come to our shop, first say "Assalamu Alaikum," and then enter.

It is narrated from Hazrat Shu'aib that when Hazrat Abu Al-Aliyah (may Allah have mercy on him) would come to the grain storage room, he would ask, "Peace be upon you, may I come in?" I said, "May Allah have mercy on you, this is just a marketplace!" He replied, "Sometimes a person is calculating his accounts, and sometimes he is counting dirhams."

Ibn Aun narrates: I was with Mujahid in the market of Kufa, where the tents (platforms) of the tailors were set up in front of the houses of Banu al-Bakka, adjacent to the market. He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to seek permission from them. I asked: How did he do it? He replied: He would say, "Peace be upon you, may I enter?" Then he would enter.

It is narrated from Hazrat Darham Abu Ubaid al-Maharibi that I saw Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in the market when it started to rain. He stood under the shade of a Persian's tent. That Persian began to push him away. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying, "I am only standing here to avoid the rain." Later, when that Persian found out that it was Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he began to strike his chest with his hand.
