Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a mukatab says to his master, "Reduce something from the amount of the contract of manumission and I will pay quickly," then there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Tawus says that there is no harm if a master says to his mukatab: "Pay quickly and I will reduce the amount of the contract of manumission."

It is narrated from Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that if a man says to his mukatab, "I will reduce something for you, so pay quickly," he disliked this.

Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man makes his slave a mukatab (contracted for freedom) for a certain period in exchange for some dirhams, and then before the appointed time says to him, "Pay quickly and I will reduce the amount of the contract," there is no harm in this. He says that I have not seen anyone except Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) who disliked this; indeed, he used to dislike it, but he considered it permissible in exchange for goods.

Hasan and Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on them) disliked that it be said to a mukatab, "Pay earlier than the appointed time and I will reduce something for you."

It was asked from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a person says to his mukatab, "Pay quickly and I will reduce something for you." He did not see any harm in this. Hazrat Waki' says that Hazrat Sufyan disliked this in matters of religion and mukatab.
