Raising the Price Without Intention to Buy to Tempt Others
Hadith 23436
٢٣٤٣٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن أبي زائدة عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة (عن أبي هريرة) (١) قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لا تناجشوا، ولا تباغضوا، ولا تحاسدوا، وكونوا عباد اللَّه إخوانا" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not artificially raise prices (when you do not intend to buy), do not bear malice towards one another, and do not envy one another, and be, O servants of Allah, brothers to one another.
Hadith 23437
٢٣٤٣٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن العوام عن إبراهيم السكسكي عن ابن أبي أوفى قال: سمعته يقول: الناجش آكل (ربا) (١) خائن (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah have mercy on him) says that one who deliberately increases the price is a usurer and a deceiver.
Hadith 23438
٢٣٤٣٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو خالد عن العوام عن إبراهيم السكسكي عن ابن أبي أوفى مثله (١).
It is narrated in the same manner from Ibn Abi Awfa.
Hadith 23439
٢٣٤٣٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لا تناجشوا" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not raise the price if you do not intend to buy.
Hadith 23440
٢٣٤٤٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن عياش عن عمرو بن مهاجر أن عمر بن عبد العزيز قال: النجش لا يحل.
Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz says that it is not permissible to set a price over someone else's price.
