Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever unjustly seizes someone else's land will be forced on the Day of Judgment to carry all the earth of that land.

Hazrat Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever wrongfully takes a piece of land, on the Day of Resurrection it will be made into a collar of seven earths and placed around his neck.

Hazrat Abu Amr al-Shaibani, may Allah have mercy on him, says that it has been conveyed to me that indeed there is no person who grazes land for whom repentance will be (accepted), and there is no land found that is dug for him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever wrongfully takes a piece of land, on the Day of Resurrection a collar of seven earths will be placed around his neck.

Hazrat Abu Tufail narrates that I was present in the service of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when a person came to him and asked, "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) tell you any secret matters?" Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) became angry and replied, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not whisper to me anything that he concealed from the people, except that he taught me four words." The man asked, "What are those words?" He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "May Allah's curse be upon the one who curses his parents, and may Allah's curse be upon the one who sacrifices in the name of other than Allah, may Allah's curse be upon the one who gives shelter to a mischief-maker, and may Allah's curse be upon the one who changes the boundaries of the land."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Malik Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The greatest deception in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be that a person seizes some land belonging to another, and if two neighbors have shared land and one of them usurps the land of his companion, then a collar of seven earths will be placed around the neck of such a person.

Hazrat Ibn Sabit narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed four types of people: one who sacrifices in the name of anyone other than Allah, one who gives shelter to a mischief-maker, one who disobeys his parents, and one who steals a boundary marker. The narrator says that I asked, "What is meant by a boundary marker?" It is one who takes his brother's land and adds it to his own land.

Hazrat Masruq states that whoever seizes land unjustly, on the Day of Judgment the owners of the land will make him wear a collar (of that land), which he will not be able to bear.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Curse is upon the one who, without right, diminishes anything from the grass or vegetation of the land.
