Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) freed a slave and said: Surely your wealth was for me, but I grant it to you (this is for you).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) that Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) inquired about the wealth of his slave. When he informed him about his wealth, he (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "You are free, and your wealth is also for you."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Abu Malikah that a woman from the people of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) freed a slave and asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the property of the slave. She replied: If you did not stipulate any condition regarding the property at the time of freeing them, then their property belongs to you.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) freed a slave and said: Surely your wealth was for me, but I grant it to you (this is for you).

It is narrated from Ibn Sirin that Ayub (may Allah be pleased with him) called his slave and inquired from him about his wealth. When he informed him, Ayub (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "You are free, and your wealth is also for you."

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: When a slave is set free, then his wealth will also be given to him.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the slave’s property will also go to him; however, if the master makes an exception, then it will not go to him.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that when a slave is set free, his wealth will also belong to him.

Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: When a man frees a slave and the slave possesses wealth, then the wealth of the slave will belong to the slave himself.

Hazrat Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) says: When a slave is set free, his wealth will also be included with him.

Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, says regarding the person who frees such a slave who also possesses his own wealth, that I prefer that this matter be clarified to him. If he intends to keep the wealth, he may keep it, and if he intends to give it to the slave, then he should give it to him.

Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a person frees such a slave who also possesses wealth, then that wealth will belong to the slave.

Hazrat Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when a slave is freed, whatever wealth he possesses will belong to the master.
