Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by a man who was weighing filings. The man asked him (may Allah be pleased with him): "Should I tilt the scale when weighing?" Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud replied: "Make the tongue of the scale even; when it becomes even, then add whatever you wish according to your desire."

Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas says that I saw Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) buying a cloak; he (may Allah be pleased with him) was asking for one extra cord with it, but the seller refused to give more. I saw Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) arguing with him, then I do not know who prevailed in that argument.

It is also narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Ibn Abu Hudhail, may Allah have mercy on him.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by a maidservant who was buying meat, and the maidservant was saying to the butcher, "Give me a little extra." Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the butcher: "Give her a little extra, for indeed this is a great means of blessing in trade."

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that there is no harm in asking for a higher price in a sale.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Husain (may Allah have mercy on him) that Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) was seen buying a cloak from a man. He was disputing with him over an extra string, and Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying, "Add more," while the man was saying, "No."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said: When you buy meat, do not ask for extra.
