Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Hakam that something was due upon the wife of Ibrahim, so he instructed me to give her dinars in exchange for the value of those dirhams.

It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) that I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) upon whom silver was obligatory, so he gave dinars in its price, and when dinars were obligatory upon him, he gave silver in its price.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there is no harm in giving gold in exchange for silver and silver in exchange for gold.

Hazrat Musa bin Nafi says that I asked Hazrat Saeed Ibn Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) whether a person can give silver in exchange for gold and gold in exchange for silver as a loan? He replied that there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Tawus did not consider there to be any harm in it.

Hazrat Qatadah and Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on them) did not consider there to be any harm in this.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if, considering the market price, gold is given in exchange for silver and silver is given in exchange for gold, then there is no harm.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that there is no harm in doing so.

Hazrat Qasim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Hakam states that if a person owes dinars to another and gives dirhams instead, there is no harm, even if their value becomes somewhat less or more, provided both are satisfied with it.
