Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Abdullah Jasri says that I asked Hazrat Ma'qil bin Yasar, "One of us wants to buy a slave in order to set him free, so what method should he adopt?" He replied, "When you buy a slave with the intention of freeing him, do not mention freedom to his owner while buying him, rather buy him quietly. Then, if you wish, keep him, and if you wish, set him free."

Hazrat Ibn 'Ulayyah says that I mentioned the aforementioned hadith to Ayyub, so he said that the matter is not complete.

Hazrat Sha'bi used to say that if a man was obliged to free a slave, and he bought a slave with the condition of freeing him at the time of purchase, then this is disliked and this transaction is not complete.

Ibrahim and Hazrat Sha’bi state that if a slave is bought and his emancipation is included as a condition in the sale, then this transaction is not valid.

Ibrahim says that if it was obligatory for a man to free a slave, and then he bought a slave, he should not stipulate the condition of freeing him at the time of purchase.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked that if a person buys a slave woman and makes a condition with her master to set her free, then will the reward of her freedom go to her master?
