Hadith 20794
٢٠٧٩٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا جرير عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: إذا أخذت الصيد وبه رمق فمات في يدك فلا تأكله.
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if you catch game and there is still some life left in it, and it dies in your hand, then do not eat it.
Hadith 20795
٢٠٧٩٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن (عبيد اللَّه) (١) بن عمر عن نافع أنه رمى (دبسيًا) (٢) بحجر (فصرعه) (٣) (فأخذ) (٤) عبد اللَّه (يعالجه) (٥) (بقدوم) (٦) معه ليذبحه، فمات في يده قبل أن يذبحه فألقاه (٧).
Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Umar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) threw a stone at a pigeon and knocked it down. He caught it and passed an adze over its neck to slaughter it, but it died before he could slaughter it, so he threw it away.
Hadith 20796
٢٠٧٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا (ابن) (١) إدريس عن ابن جريج عن عطاء قال: إذ كنت في تخليص الصيد فسبقك بنفسه، فلا بأس أن (تأكله) (٢)، وإن تربصت به فمات فلا (تأكله) (٣).
Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if you try to reach the hunted animal and it dies before you reach it, then there is no harm in eating it. But if you catch it and also have the opportunity to slaughter it, yet you do not slaughter it, then do not eat it.
Hadith 20797
٢٠٧٩٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا سهل بن يوسف عن شعبة قال: سألت الحكم عن الرجل يدرك الصيد وبه رمق، فيدع الكلب حتى (يقتله) (١) قال: لا يأكل.
Hazrat Sha’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) that if a person reaches his prey and there is still some life left in it, but his dog kills it, then what is the ruling regarding such prey? He replied that he should not eat it.
Hadith 20798
٢٠٧٩٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا أبو داود عن أبي حرة عن الحسن في رجل (أدرك) (١) كلبه على صيد فأدرك الصيد وبه رمق فمات في (يديه) (٢) فقال: إذا كان الكلب (مكلبًا) (٣) فليأكل.
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man sends his dog for hunting, and when the man reaches the prey, there is still some life left in it, but it dies in his hand, then if his dog was trained, the man may eat it.
