Hadith 18586
Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from a man that a woman said to her son, "Get me married." The son expressed displeasure at this. He went to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and presented the whole matter. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "You go, I will come to you tomorrow." The next day Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came and had a brief conversation with the woman, then took her son's hand and said, "You should get her married. By the One in whose hand is Umar's life! If Hantamah bint Hisham (the mother of Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) had asked me to get her married, I would certainly have arranged her marriage." Thus, the man got his mother married.
Hadith 18587
Hazrat Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ismail bin Abdullah bin Abi Talha (may Allah have mercy on him) narrate that Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a marriage proposal to Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her). She said, "O Abu Talha! Do you not know that the idols you worship are nothing but a piece of wood that grows from the earth, and such-and-such Abyssinian grew it?" Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "Indeed, that is the truth." Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "Then why do you not feel ashamed of this? Accept Islam; your acceptance of Islam will be my dowry." Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for some time to think, then he came and said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (ﷺ) is the Messenger of Allah." Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) said to her son Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Anas, get up and perform my marriage with Abu Talha." So he performed the marriage.
