Do Not Propose Marriage Over Someone Else’s Proposal
Hadith 18568
١٨٥٦٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا ابن مسهر وأبو أسامة عن عبيد اللَّه بن عمر عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لا يخطب الرجل على خطبة أخيه، ولا (يبع) (١) على بيع أخيه إلا أن يأذن له" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No man should send a marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother, nor should he conduct a sale over the sale of his brother.
Hadith 18569
١٨٥٦٩ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لا يخطب على خطبة أخيه" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No man should send a marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother.
