Hadith 18551
١٨٥٥١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا أبو بكر بن عياش عن منصور عن مجاهد: ﴿وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ﴾ [النساء: ٣٥]، قال: (١) لا (يقربها) (٢).
Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَاہْجُرُوہُنَّ فِی الْمَضَاجِعِ } of the Holy Qur'an, says: "Do not go near them."
Hadith 18552
١٨٥٥٢ - حدثنا جرير عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم والشعبي قوله: ﴿وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ﴾ (قالا) (١): لا يضاجعها.
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse of the Holy Qur’an { وَاہْجُرُوہُنَّ فِی الْمَضَاجِعِ }, say that do not lie with them.
Hadith 18553
١٨٥٥٣ - حدثنا حفص عن الحسن بن (عبيد اللَّه) (١) عن أبي الضحى عن ابن عباس: ﴿وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ﴾، قال: إذا أطاعته في المضجع فليس له أن يضربها (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), in the explanation of the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَاہْجُرُوہُنَّ فِی الْمَضَاجِعِ }, says that when a woman obeys a man in lying down, then he cannot beat her.
Hadith 18554
١٨٥٥٤ - [حدثنا يونس بن محمد قال: نا شريك عن (خصيف) (١) عن عكرمة ومقسم: (٢) قوله: ﴿وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ] (٣) وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ﴾ قال مقسم: (هجر المضجع) (٤) ولا (تقرب) (٥) فراشها.
Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Muqassim (may Allah have mercy on him) were asked about the interpretation of the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَاہْجُرُوہُنَّ فِی الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوہُنَّ }. Hazrat Muqassim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that "hajr" in "mudja'" means not to go near her bed, and Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that it means not to speak to her. As for { واضْرِبُوہُنَّ }, both said that it means such a beating that does not cause injury.
Hadith 18557
١٨٥٥٧ - حدثنا عفان عن حماد بن سلمة عن حميد عن الحسن: ﴿وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ﴾ قال: (ضرب) (١) غير مبرح (غير مؤثر) (٢).
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) says in the commentary of the verse { واضْرِبُوہُنَّ } of the Holy Qur'an that what is meant is such a beating that does not cause injury.
