If a Man Is the Guardian of a Woman He Wishes to Marry—What Should He Do?
Hadith 18402
١٨٤٠٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا حفص بن غياث عن الحجاج عن (الركين) (١) أن المغيرة بن شعبة خطب امرأة (٢) هو وليها ومعه أولياء مثله فأمر بعض أوليائها أن يزوجها إياه (٣).
Hazrat Rakeen (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) was a guardian (wali) of a woman. He wished to send a marriage proposal to that woman. There were some other guardians of that woman as well. He instructed one of the guardians to arrange his marriage with that woman.
Hadith 18403
١٨٤٠٣ - حدثنا معاذ بن معاذ عن أشعث عن الحسن قال: إذا أراد ولي المرأة أن يتزوجها بإذنها من نفسه و (لي) (١) أمرها رجلًا ثم (تزوجها) (٢) بشهادة العدول.
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a woman's guardian intends to marry her himself, he should appoint another man as her guardian and then marry her in the presence of just witnesses.
