قوله: ﴿والمحصنات من الذين أوتوا الكتاب من قبلكم﴾
Explanation of the Quranic Verse: {And [lawful are] chaste women from those who were given the Scripture before you} ({وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ أُوْتُوا الْکِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِکُمْ})
Hadith 18311
١٨٣١١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا محمد بن فضيل عن مطرف عن عامر قال قوله: ﴿وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ﴾، قال: إحصان اليهودية (و) (١) النصرانية أن (تغتسل) (٢) من الجنابة وأن (تحصن) (٣) فرجها.
Hazrat Aamir (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ أُوْتُوا الْکِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِکُمْ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that the chastity of a Jewish and Christian woman is that she performs the ritual bath of impurity (ghusl) and keeps her private parts pure.
Hadith 18312
١٨٣١٢ - حدثنا ابن إدريس عن ليث عن مجاهد: ﴿وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ﴾، العفائف.
Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ أُوْتُوا الْکِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِکُمْ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that it refers to chaste women.
