Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah have mercy on him) states that Hazrat Hasan and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with them) did not use to look at the Mothers of the Believers, whereas Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) considered it permissible for them to look at the Mothers of the Believers.

Ayub (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) whether a man can look at the head of his mother-in-law. In response, he recited this verse: "And they should not display their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers-in-law, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons." Then he said, "Do you see her included among them?"

Hazrat Sha'bi and Hazrat 'Ikrimah d, in the explanation of the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَلاَ یُبْدِینَ زِینَتَہُنَّ إلاَّ لِبُعُولَتِہِنَّ ، أَوْ آبَائِہِنَّ ، أَوْ آبَائِ بُعُولَتِہِنَّ } (till the end of the verse), state that there is no mention of paternal and maternal uncles in it, because both are included in the mention of their sons, and it is said that a woman should not remove her scarf in front of her paternal and maternal uncles.
