Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Habib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once came outside, and his gaze fell upon a woman who appeared pleasing to him. He returned to Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), where some women were sitting and making perfume. When those women saw the Prophet (peace be upon him), they left. The Prophet (peace be upon him) fulfilled his need and then came outside. Then he said: If any of you sees a woman and she pleases him, he should go to his wife and be intimate with her, for whatever is in that woman is also in his wife.

It is narrated in the same way with a difference in wording through another chain of transmission.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that if any of you happens to look at a woman and finds her attractive, he should go to his wife, for whatever is in those women is also in his wife.

Hazrat Salim bin Abi J'ad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the gaze of the Prophet ﷺ fell upon a woman, and he found her pleasing, so he had a lawful meeting with Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: If any of you sees a woman and finds her pleasing, he should have relations with his wife, for whatever is in those women is also in his own wife.

The statement of Hazrat Abdullah, may Allah have mercy on him, is also narrated through another chain of transmission.

Hazrat Mutarrif (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man’s gaze falls upon a woman and he finds her attractive, he should remember an incomplete calf.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man’s gaze falls upon a woman and he finds her attractive, he should recall the unpleasant things about women.
