Ruling if a Man Accepts Islam While Married to Ten Women
Hadith 18066
١٨٠٦٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا بن علية ومروان بن معاوية عن معمر عن الزهري عن سالم عن ابن عمر قال: أسلم غيلان بن مسلم الثقفي (وتحته) (١) (عشر) (٢) نسوة، فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "خذ منهن أربعًا" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Ghaylan bin Salamah Thaqafi (may Allah have mercy on him) accepted Islam, he had ten wives in his marriage. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Keep four of them."
Hadith 18067
١٨٠٦٧ - حدثنا غندر عن أشعث عن الحسن في الرجل يسلم وعنده عشر نسوة أو ست قال: (يمسك) (١) منهن أربعًا.
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man accepts Islam and he has ten or six women in his marriage, then he should keep four of them.
Hadith 18068
١٨٠٦٨ - حدثنا (١) بكر بن عبد الرحمن قال: (نا) (٢) عيسى بن المختار عن ابن أبي ليلى عن (حميضة) (٣) بن (الشمردل) (٤) عن قيس بن الحارث الأسدي أنه أسلم وعنده ثماني نسوة فأمره رسول اللَّه ﷺ أن يختار منهن أربعًا (٥).
Hazrat Humaizah bin Shamardal (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that when Hazrat Qais bin Harith (may Allah have mercy on him) accepted Islam, he had eight wives in his marriage. The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to keep four of them.
