Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Khawlah bint Hakim (may Allah be pleased with her) is among those women who offered herself to the Prophet ﷺ.

Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَامْرَأَۃً مُؤْمِنَۃً إِنْ وَہَبَتْ نَفْسَہَا لِلنَّبِیِّ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that this woman did not gift her own self.

Hazrat Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Abdul Malik wrote a letter to the people of Madinah to inquire about this woman, so in response Hazrat Ali ibn Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah have mercy on him) wrote that she was a woman named Umm Sharik from the tribe of Azd, who had gifted herself to the Prophet ﷺ.

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there was an Ansari woman who had gifted herself to the Prophet ﷺ.

Hazrat Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the people of Madinah used to say about something very blessed that it is even more than the waterskin of Umm Sharik.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ka'b, Hazrat Umar bin Hakam, and Hazrat Abdullah bin Ubaidah (s) state that the woman who gifted herself to the Prophet ﷺ was Hazrat Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her).

Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَامْرَأَۃً مُؤْمِنَۃً إِنْ وَہَبَتْ نَفْسَہَا لِلنَّبِیِّ } of the Holy Qur'an, states that it refers to marriage without a dowry.

Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَامْرَأَۃً مُؤْمِنَۃً إِنْ وَہَبَتْ نَفْسَہَا لِلنَّبِیِّ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that the woman had given herself (in marriage) as a gift, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not accept it.
