Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the wife of Rifa’ah Qurzai came to the service of the Prophet ﷺ and said, “I was married to Rifa’ah, and he gave me three divorces. Then I married Abdur Rahman bin Zubair, but he is only like a fringe of cloth.” At this, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said, “If you intend to return to the marriage of Rifa’ah, it is not permissible until you taste the honey of the other husband and he tastes your honey.”

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about this matter, so he said that a woman is not lawful for her first husband until the second husband tastes her honey and she tastes his honey.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: A man gave his wife three divorces, then that woman married another man, he closed the door and drew the curtain, then divorced her before consummation. Is she now lawful for her first husband? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: No, not until she tastes the honey of the second husband.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the woman does not become lawful for the first husband until she experiences intercourse with the second husband as a virgin woman does. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that she does not become lawful for the first until the second tastes her honey and the woman tastes his honey.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that it is not permissible for the first (husband) until the second (husband) has intercourse with her and consummates the marriage with her.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that she is not lawful for the first (husband) until the second (husband) has intercourse with her.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that she is not lawful for the first one until the second one has intercourse with her. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that until he tastes her honey.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A woman is not lawful for her first husband until she tastes the honey of another husband.
