Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that a woman whose husband has died cannot marry until he returns or dies.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah says that until her husband's death is certain, the woman cannot marry.

Ibrahim, regarding the woman whose husband goes missing or is captured by the enemy, says that she should be patient, because she is a woman and such situations occur to women. She will remain his wife until her husband returns or dies.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that a woman whose husband goes missing cannot marry until he returns or dies.

Hazrat Amr bin Hani narrates that Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid was asked: If a woman's husband has been absent for a long time and it is not known whether he is alive or dead, what is the ruling? He replied that the woman should wait until it becomes known whether he is alive or dead.

Muhammad says that a woman whose husband goes missing cannot remarry until she is certain of her husband's death.

Hazrat Hakam and Hazrat Hammad say that a woman whose husband is missing cannot marry until she receives news about him.

It is also narrated similarly from Ibrahim.
