Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) granted an impotent man a respite of one year. He said that if he becomes capable of intercourse within a year, then fine; otherwise, separation will be effected between the two, and the woman will receive her full dower.

Hazrat Shurayh used to say regarding the impotent man who was unable to have intercourse with his wife that he must give her half the dowry.

Ibrahim says that a full dowry will be obligatory upon an impotent man.

Hazrat Ata says that a full dower will be obligatory upon an impotent man.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib and Hasan state that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered to grant a year’s respite to the impotent man, and then if he becomes capable of intercourse, it is fine; otherwise, separation will be effected between the two. And the woman will receive the full dower.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that the woman of an impotent man will receive the full dowry.

Hazrat Urwah says that the woman will receive the full dowry.

Hazrat Tawus says that the wife of an impotent man will receive half the dowry.
