Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year; if he becomes capable within that time, then fine, otherwise separation will be established between the two. Then both should seek the bounty of Allah.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year; if he becomes capable within that time, then fine, otherwise separation will be effected between the two.

Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu'bah granted a one-year respite to an impotent man.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year; if he becomes capable within that time, then fine, otherwise separation will be effected between the two.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Hazrat Shurayh in a letter that the impotent man will be given a respite of one year from the day his case is presented before the judge.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that Hazrat Harith bin Abdullah bin Abi Rabi'ah gave a respite of ten months to the man who was not capable of having intercourse with his wife.

Ibrahim says that a person who is unable to have intercourse with his wife will be given a respite of one year or ten months for treatment.

Ibrahim says that the impotent man will be given respite from the day his case is presented in the court of the ruler. Hasan says that he will be given a respite of one year. Ibrahim says that I do not remember the exact time, but he will be given respite from the day his case is presented in the court of the judge.

Hazrat Aamir Sha'bi narrates that the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say that an impotent man should be given a respite of one year.

Hazrat Ata says that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year; if he becomes capable within that time, then fine, otherwise separation will be effected between the two.

Hazrat Ata says that from the day the case is presented in court, a period of one year will be granted.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year.

Hasan says that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year; if he becomes capable within that time, then fine, otherwise separation will be effected between the two.

Hazrat Yahya bin Saeed narrates from one of his sheikhs that Abu Halimah Mu'adh al-Qari married the daughter of Harithah bin Nu'man Ansari. But he was not able to have intercourse with her. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him a respite of one year. Hazrat Yahya says that Abdur Rahman Ansari told me that when one year had passed, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) separated the two and said: "All praise is due to Allah who resolved the issue of Harithah's daughter."

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) granted a year’s respite to the impotent man.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year. And in my opinion, this respite will be counted from the time his case comes before the judge.

Hazrat Naseer narrates that I was with Abdul Malik bin Marwan when a blind and impotent man was brought to him. He granted him a respite of one year for treatment.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that an impotent man will be given a respite of one year.
