Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), said regarding the person who set the condition for his wife to live in her own house: "Allah's condition comes before the condition of this woman."

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says about the person who set the condition for his wife to live in her own house, "If he wishes, he can make her leave."

Hazrat Muhammad bin Sirin narrates that once a woman came to Hazrat Shurayh and said that my husband had set a condition for me to stay in my house. He replied that Allah's condition comes before his condition.

Ibrahim and Hasan say that if he wishes, he can expel her from the house.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that a man can take his wife wherever he wishes, and the condition is invalid.

Muhammad says about the person who stipulated that his wife should live in her own house that there is no condition for him.

Hazrat Tawus was asked about a man who sent a marriage proposal to a woman and imposed many conditions upon himself for her. What is the ruling regarding this? Hazrat Tawus replied that the condition is nothing.
