Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Khaythamah narrates that the Prophet ﷺ arranged the marriage of a Muslim man who possessed nothing. The Prophet ﷺ permitted him to have lawful relations with his wife. This man later became one of the prominent people among the Muslims.

The father of Hazrat Rakeen narrates that a son of Harm married Laila bint Ajma during the time of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and had lawful relations with her without giving any part of the dowry.

Hazrat Kuraib bin Hisham, who was among the students of Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), married a woman for four thousand dirhams and had lawful relations with her without giving her any part of the dowry.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that there is a difference of opinion among the scholars of Madinah regarding this matter. According to some, it is permissible, and according to others, it is not permissible. However, whatever a person does, there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that when the woman is agreeable to it, then there is no harm.

Hasan says that there is no harm in it.
